I don't know what spurred this on, but it happened and it's very touching to me...

If you don't know Lady's (the mare) past, you can't understand the meaning of this.

Before a good friend of mine and I rescued her, she was starved, physically and mentally abused for nearly three years. She was trumatized to the point where she literally trusted no one. She was terrified of men, and even with all the work we've done with her, she's still uneasy around them.

When we got her, you could see her ribs and was severly under muscled because of being confined to a 10'x10' paddock for the long years without adiquate exercise. She had become socially deprived of both equine and humans and even now after being rescued for almost two years, screams if she's alone.

Scars are still apparent even now - both physically and mentally. Though, she had made a complete turn around. Instead of being dirt paddock, she has 10 acreas to freely roam with her small herd of my gelding and her 'grandfather' (just our older horse) Sar. She also fully trusts my friend and I and is becoming more and more used to new things everyday.

To my mare, Lady, the strongest, most beautiful horse I've ever met.

What a sad story for such a beautiful mare, you really have made a difference to her life so good on you. :)

Thank you. She's my baby girl - but sadly I'll be leaving her soon. ]:
I'm moving out to a new barn so I can start Jag (my gelding) some jumping lessons, but can't take Lady with so she'll be staying with my friend for at least the summer.
Even if it is just temporary, it's going to be hard.

God!!! People can be so cruel, and for the most petty reasons... :[
How can people still be so ignorant to the point to think abusing an animal will do them any good? >< It's sad, also, that people still see difference like something to be feared and scorned.

I've seen other photos of her in your gallery, she's indeed a gorgeous lady! I didn't know horses could have blue eyes.

You are great people, rescuing her and allowing her to have a nice life! Was it difficult to take her away from her former owners? Reading the story, I presume they enjoyed keeping her like that... =/
It's such a sad story, but congratulations for making it happy-ending

(by the way, the manip is great! beautiful and dream-like ^^)

Sorry for such the late post - I must have missed it. ':^/
It was actually rather easy to actually buy her from them since the people that abused her weren't the actual owners, they just were the people that owned the boarding facility.
Her actual owner was a girl who had been thrown from her other horse and became petrified of horses in general and so she literally forgot about Lady. When she heard that we wanted to buy her, we had no problem getting her.
Though, the people that did abuse her were rather pissed, but they couldn't do anything besides give us evil glares and such until we could find a new barn to move her to.
Thanks for the compliment!

Thank you, I really like how the blood came out - not so over dramatic that it's completely apparent that it's fake but not too suddle that you completely miss it. ;]
